Tide & Trove is an independent jeweller in Devon specialising in intricate granulation techniques. Founder Daisy's high-level skill results in beautiful textures, with no two pieces being the same. Using 100% recycled precious metals and fine gemstones, her work recreates emotional connections to times, people, and places.

Did you always want to be a jeweller?

"Yes, in my heart I always wanted to be a jeweller; I'm creative and a bit of a magpie. However, in a past life I was a rural surveyor. I wouldn't change my journey though, as my previous career has made me incredibly grateful to own such a beautiful business."

Do you prefer designing or making jewellery?

"I couldn’t do one without the other. Being involved in every step of the process—from the initial design consultation to the final polish, is what makes my work distinctive and what makes the Tide and Trove journey special for our clients. We invite as much or as little client involvement as they prefer, allowing them to engage intimately in the design process. The bench work keeps my skills sharp, while designing ensures every piece stays true to my aesthetic. Though I’d love to dedicate more time to creating new collections, the balance of craftsmanship and design is what makes each piece so meaningful."

What part of making jewellery is your favourite?

"Can I say the stories? As a deeply sentimental person, the true magic behind my creations lies in the stories they tell. Each bespoke piece, whether it's a thoughtful remodel or a fresh design, carries a piece of its owner’s heart. From love stories to moments of loss, from cherished gemstones to hidden treasures, every creation holds a narrative. The joy of what I do is not just in the craftsmanship, but in weaving these stories into something timeless — a personal piece of history that lasts forever."

How often do you wish that the jewellery you make for customers was for yourself?

"Because we work so closely with our clients, from design through to finial polish, each piece is full of love and tiny design details unlike any other. When you pour everything in to bringing these special treasures to life, it's impossible not to fall in love with them and their stories. When working with remodels, some of the pieces that come to the bench have the most exquisite stories and unique materials; that always feels like a privilege, and those are difficult jewels to wave good bye."

Is there anything you know now, that you wish you did when you first started jewellery making?

"In the early days of my journey, I felt compelled to take on projects that didn’t align with my aesthetic, driven by a fear of disappointing others and missing opportunities. However, delivering work that didn’t resonate with my passion or design sensibilities was an uncomfortable but invaluable lesson. Now, I focus solely on creating pieces that reflect my true aesthetic and vision."
