About Aquamarine:

Aquamarine is a captivating gemstone known for its serene blue-green hue, reminiscent of the ocean. Part of the beryl family, it shares its lineage with emerald and morganite. The name "aquamarine" comes from the Latin words "aqua" (water) and "marina" (of the sea), highlighting its oceanic colours. Historically, aquamarine has been associated with mermaid treasures and was believed to protect sailors on their voyages. It is also thought to enhance clarity of thought, courage, and communication.

Founder

Sarah Hickey

I'm achingly passionate about the visual language of jewellery.

I studied History of Art in London and even before her graduation day arrived, I decamped to New York, to work in the art world. It was at night classes, at the tender age of 21, that I fell headlong in love with jewellery making and knew pretty much from the first class that I had found my soul’s calling.

After 8 years in New York, a jewellery agent and fledgling business, I decided to to move back home to the North of England and my online business was born. We are a team of women. We embrace flexible working, beauty in all things and we’re proud of our small creative brand.

The jewellery industry needs to do more to reduce its carbon footprint. That’s why we offset 120x more carbon than we produce, plant a tree for every purchase, and promote jewellers that are leading by example.
