Locus Solus Hoops – Lapis Lazuli & Sterling Silver by Independent Jeweller Estelle Deve

Subtly honouring Gae Aulenti’s range of garden furniture which reimagined the conventional style of the Rationalism era, our Locus Solus earrings play on the youthfulness and experimentation of her 1964 designs. The earrings take on an asymmetrical arc shape, imprinted with delicate ridges, that gently envelops the ear lobe as it slightly descends in size. The larger gradient of the Locus Solus earrings is formed of coloured semi- precious stones, with the smaller half of the earring flowing smoothly into solid metal. This contrast captures the eccentric fusion of colour and metal, and its ability to provide a means of expression that differs from the paradigms of physical space, a principle that Aulenti championed throughout her career.

The Locus Solus hoops are thoughtfully crafted in sterling silver 925 and feature a graduating arc of lapis lazuli. 6mm thick at their widest point, these gradient earrings measure 18mm from their outer to 15mm at their inner diameters, with a 1mm silver edge at the stones incision. Each weighs 3.9 grams. Please note, all stones are natural gemstones and will present variations in colour and pattern. Please note that we are unable to accept any returns on earrings due to hygiene reasons.

Key Features:

  • Inspiration. Drawing from the avant-garde designs of Gae Aulenti, the earrings feature an asymmetrical arc shape with delicate ridges, symbolizing the fusion of youthfulness and innovative design.
  • Materials. Crafted from sterling silver 925, these hoops are adorned with a graduating arc of vibrant lapis lazuli, offering a striking contrast between metal and gemstone.
  • Design. The earrings boast an asymmetrical arc that gently envelops the earlobe, descending in size and blending the semi-precious stones into solid metal, showcasing the eccentric blend of colour and material.
