Locus Solus Hoops – Malachite & Gold Vermeil by Independent Jeweller Estelle Deve

Subtly honouring Gae Aulenti’s range of garden furniture which reimagined the conventional style of the Rationalism era, our Locus Solus earrings play on the youthfulness and experimentation of her 1964 designs. The earrings take on an asymmetrical arc shape, imprinted with delicate ridges, that gently envelops the ear lobe as it slightly descends in size. The larger gradient of the Locus Solus earrings is formed of coloured semi- precious stones, with the smaller half of the earring flowing smoothly into solid metal. This contrast captures the eccentric fusion of colour and metal, and its ability to provide a means of expression that differs from the paradigms of physical space, a principle that Aulenti championed throughout her career.

The Locus Solus hoops are thoughtfully crafted in 18k gold vermeil and feature a graduating arc of malachite. 6mm thick at their widest point, these gradient earrings measure 18mm from their outer to 15mm at their inner diameters, with a 1mm silver edge at the stones incision. Each weighs 3.9 grams.

Key Features:

  • Inspiration. Drawing from the youthfulness and experimental spirit of Aulenti's designs, the earrings feature an asymmetrical arc shape with delicate ridges that gracefully hug the earlobe.
  • Material. Crafted in 18k gold vermeil, these hoops are adorned with a beautiful arc of malachite, known for its vibrant green hue and natural patterns.
  • Design. The earrings exhibit a contrast between the coloured semi-precious stones and the solid metal, embodying the fusion of colour and material as a form of expression.
  • Dimensions. At their widest, the hoops are 6mm thick, with an outer diameter of 18mm tapering to 15mm at the inner edge, and feature a 1mm silver incision along the stone.
  • Weight. Each earring weighs 3.9 grams, balancing statement-making presence with comfortable wear.
  • Natural Gemstones. Please note, the malachite used is natural, leading to variations in colour and pattern, making each pair uniquely beautiful.
  • Hygiene. Due to hygiene reasons, returns on earrings are not accepted, ensuring your piece is exclusively yours.

Please note, all stones are natural gemstones and will present variations in colour and pattern. Please note that we are unable to accept any returns on earrings due to hygiene reasons.
