This item was a one-off, bespoke piece made for a customer. If you wish to have your own piece made by Richard, please contact him via the 'Talk to Richard' button.

A bespoke ring in this style will start at £4400. Opting for higher carat and quality gemstones and metal will increase the price accordingly.

The Bespoke Story

Hidden on the side of this 18ct yellow gold ring, amongst the various patterns is a grooved design that's based on the shape of Mount Kilimanjaro, which the couple this ring is for had climbed. The style is very complex, based on a ring from the 20s when metalwork was as ornate as possible. The ring has a fairly low profile though, so that the central diamond doesn't stand to high and it remains practical. The side stones are my favourite: blue diamonds!

Richard Chown Jewellery

Richard Chown is a jewellery sculptor who works with celebrities like Johnny Depp. He works with you to design the ring you didn’t know you were thinking of. Your themes and styles are developed into a design he then micro-sculpts, by hand, in wax and casts into any precious metal with any precious stones. He gets a kick out of finding something from you and your partner’s special, shared memories and sculpting that into a ring or stone setting. The inspiration is you, and the trickiest part of any bespoke work is always figuring out exactly what you want. That’s the challenge he enjoys the most, he’s done it thousands of times, and he’s really quite good at it. Richard works with a small team from his workshop in South East London. What will he make for you?

Designer, Maker & Founder

Richard Chown

Richard is a sculptor who started making things smaller and smaller, started putting them on people and then realised that was called jewellery. He got an art degree in silversmithing and blacksmithing, then worked as a secondary school art teacher for a bit before going full time into jewellery making in 2009. It started off as whatever he could sell to support his family, but as he developed he began to be trusted with bespoke work by customers and he's been doing this for over a decade now.

He brings a lot of maths and science to his work, and his sense of beauty is very much to do with the delicate strength and engineering in animals, plants and nature, which he tries to recreate in his work.

His main creative source is always the customer and what is meaningful to them. Stoking his own creative fire with the inspirations and ideas of his clients brings enjoyable new artistic challenges.
