Hi, I’m Nikki and I have been making jewellery for over 20 years & selling for about 14. I create wearable low maintenance pieces with a gentle, handmade finish. Each piece, even the most simple is made by hand to order. I work with simple hand tools and traditional techniques. A lot of my work is inspired by nature and the countryside, finding the romance in the everyday. I’m also very inspired by the making process and love to work with metal in an organic way.

About
I have always had a magpie's eye for anything sparkly, and made jewellery from beads and clay etc as a child. I took my first silversmithing course over 20 years ago at Central St Martins in the lovely old building in Holborn, which is still sadly empty, and was immediately in love. I am first and foremost a maker, and am really inspired by how metal behaves, it's such an incredible material to work in. I have a very low tech traditional setup with mostly hand tools, and I don't produce computer generated images or anything too complex technically. Each piece, no matter how simple is made by hand so will always be unique. Hammering metal is also one of my favourite techniques. This creates a really low maintenance surface for everyday wear which also really makes the most of how the metal reacts to light. I love unique gemstones, preferably with a bit of colour. White stones in white metal isn't really my area.

Ethical statement
The question of ethics can be quite a complex one, but I try to do everything I can to make my work as ethical as possible. All pieces are made by hand by me in the UK. I use recycled silver and gold, and try to keep plastic out of my packaging as much as I can. As far as possible I offer either recycled or low impact ethically mined gemstones, from a selection of carefully chosen suppliers. It isn't possible to get absolutely everything from these suppliers, but I will always be open about the traceability of gemstones.
